No Place Like Home
In No Place Like Home, Troy Hul Arnold offers a tender glimpse into the private world he shares with his partner Elise Mascia, set within the quiet refuge of their Brooklyn apartment during the COVID-19 lockdown. Far from the chaos and uncertainty unfolding outside, their Crown Heights home became a sanctuary—a place filled with soft light, the rustle of maple leaves, and the occasional song of birds perched in the trees lining the historic brownstone backyards.
The painting is suffused with a sense of calm domesticity, inviting the viewer into a moment of stillness and warmth. Arnold transforms the everyday into the sacred, where love, routine, and the passage of time are held gently within a shared space. Through this work, the artist reaffirms the profound beauty of the familiar and the power of home as both a physical and emotional haven.
No Place Like Home is not simply a portrait of an apartment—it is a meditation on presence, partnership, and the fragile comforts that carried so many through a time of global disconnection.
