Troy Hul Arnold
Born in Trinidad and Tobago and raised in New York City, Troy Hul Arnold is an artist whose work is deeply rooted in personal narrative and diasporic memory. Emigrating to the United States as a child alongside his mother and three older siblings, Arnold draws upon the rich emotional terrain of his Caribbean heritage and immigrant experience to shape a compelling visual language.
Now based in Germantown, Philadelphia, Arnold continues to explore themes of identity, family, and belonging. His partner, Elise Mascia, and members of his immediate family are recurring figures in his compositions, acting as both muses and narrative anchors. His practice—spanning drawing and painting—foregrounds moments of intimacy, reflection, and reverence for the overlooked. Whether rendering familial scenes or quiet still lifes, Arnold invites viewers into a world where memory and observation converge.
With over two decades of experience in the art and design industries, Arnold brings both technical rigor and emotional resonance to his work. His ongoing body of work can be understood as a visual memoir—an evolving archive of personal and cultural history filtered through the lens of a contemporary storyteller.
